Every time the MC dropped her chin and looked up, ala... 
...all I wanted to do was giggle, which probably wasn't the intended effect.
Loved the beginning of the book, was annoyed with the middle, and thought the ending was unbelievable--in a bad way. Pretty writing, though. Some turns of phrase here that made me stop and think and appreciate.
